A practical guide for households with more than one car heading to Malaysia.
In many Singaporean households, having two or more cars is common. You might have a family SUV for weekend outings and a smaller sedan for daily commutes. When it comes to travelling to Malaysia, this raises a key question: How do you manage the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) for multiple cars?
The most important thing to remember is that a VEP is tied to a specific vehicle, not a person or a family. Each car you own that you intend to drive into Malaysia must have its own separate, approved VEP.
The JPJ VEP portal works on a "one owner, one account" basis. If both cars are registered under your name, you can manage both VEP applications from within your single portal account. However, if one car is registered under your name and the other is under your spouse's name, then you will each need to create a separate VEP portal account using your respective IDs and contact details.
Juggling multiple applications, accounts, and installations can be a headache. MyMechanic simplifies the entire process for your family.
